10 Steps to Get an Orderly Kitchen Advices from Kitchen Organization Professionals

Kitchen is the most frequently used area in your home. Therefore, there are reasons to believe that if your kitchen is organized and simple to use, and your life will be easier. Here are 10 simple steps we concluded after consulting kitchen organization professionals to organize your kitchen and make your family life smoother when cooking.

Tip #1: Empty Cabinets and Drawers

Pull all items out of each cabinet and go through them. Throw away or donate the infrequently used items, duplicate items, damaged items or items you’ve forgotten you had. Do this for each cabinet and drawer, and set up separate areas on the floor for each group. Most kitchens have insufficient storage space, so the goal is to only have the things you like and use.

Tip #2: Group Items of Similar Purpose

After all the cabinets are emptied, carefully think about how to group items. Organize all the baking tools and pile them together. Organize your cooking gadgets and pile them together. Group the dishes you eat from, glassware, festive or other seasonal items (which will only be used once or twice a year), and special entertainment or service items that are only used occasionally.

Tip #3: Organize the Cabinets

Now that you have arranged the groups on the floor, consider where to store each item. Cooking and baking tools should be kept where you prepare your food. Utensils should also be placed in the drawer closest to the preparation area. Glassware may be best placed near the sink or refrigerator. Make a coffee or tea station with sugar, cups, and filters, and if possible, place it near a water source. In this way, you can avoid fiddling around in the kitchen with what you need for breakfast.

Tip #4: Use Clear Containers to Store Items

Use containers to simplify the interior of your cabinets. Store together things like sauce mixes, gravy mixes, hot cereal wraps, and hot cocoa envelopes, and put them in small plastic containers to prevent them from being scattered throughout the cabinet. Use clear plastic shoeboxes to hold food that is in small boxes, such as gelatin or pudding mixes.

Tip #5: Store Containers and Lids Together

Throw away the uncapped container, and then cover the remaining plastic container or store the covers in another larger container to keep them together. Do the same with the covers for pots and pans. A large transparent plastic box will keep them together nicely and on the sides. Another option is to store them sideways in cabinets on wire racks.

Tip #6: Make use of Vertical Space

Put hooks under cabinets to contain mugs on the top of the countertop, or hang a stemware rack in the same position to for wine glasses. This will free up a lot of cabinet space. You can also hang adhesive hooks on the cabinet doors or pantry doors to fix tools such as measuring cups, oven gloves or other kitchen accessories. Try to use wall space or ceiling shelves to hang pots and pans. Remember that any space available for hanging objects will free up flat space inside a cabinet.

Tip #7: Use Drawer Dividers

Drawer dividers are very suitable for cookware drawers and garbage drawers. Everyone needs a place to keep these gadgets, but they don’t have to be garbled everywhere. A drawer divider allows you to assign a small spot to each item, and you can find them when you need them.

Tip #8: Sort Papers

Hang a magnetic sorting box on the side of the refrigerator to store coupons, takeaway menus, notepads and pens or other papers that can easily pile up on the countertop. Each paper should have its own place in the sorter.

Tip #9: Clean Out the Refrigerator

Store trash bags near the trash can, and then throw a pile of loose bags into the bottom of the trash can. So, when you pull out a bag, there is already another bag waiting to be used under the bag. If you throw rubbish on the side of the road one night a week, use the same amount of time to clean your refrigerator every week too. See what food needs to be threw away immediately, and take the trash out to the curb right then. Your refrigerator will only hold current items and will not be too cluttered.

Tip #10: Use Saniwise Sensor Trash Can

Few people have realized that trash cans will be good helper in keeping your kitchen clean, tidy, and free of smells. Now, Saniwise has released a premium version of trash can that opens its cover automatically with just a move of your hand or any object. It keeps all the trash out of your view in kitchen. If you spend your time and energy into organizing and decluttering your kitchen, you will definitely be paid off in the next few years.
